between the breathing in
and the breathing out
between the fullness
and the emptiness
between ascending
to the sun with Icarus
and the inevitable
plummeting
to earth
.
One of the very few free verses I have written (for a reason) called “Prelude” tries to express something along those lines, but it is at least 10 times longer (if not more) and not nearly as effective as the words you have carefully chosen here. You know how to pack a punch with little waste.

I really liked this. Reminds me of when I listen to people speak for a long time and my concentration begins to wane, all I hear is the breath in between the phrases of their voice. Sometimes, at least in those personal moments, I can hear the real person speak. I know, strange. :)
