refuge

lost my way
on rocky ground
no footprints
to be found

through the briar
to parts unknown
abandoned
and alone

changed direction
climbed a hill
saw your fire
burning still

lifetime gone
’till saw your spark
my refuge
from the dark

  1. Lovely. You have a gift for capturing the transitory. Though I “liked” this poem, I could as easily have chosen any other.

“The vulnerable and marginalised of society,

Are dependent on appropriate help and treatment,

      In Your love and compassion,

Lord, give comfort and healing in their affliction.”

l so love this poem of Dennis’s and thought to share so we cuddle with in reflection this weekend if we wish. The ending notes in particular, contrast with the graphic illustration hence the reflections and art. Coincidentally, a chapter in my featured publication is called “Marriage my Refuge”. Will it have such sweet end notes like in this poem? Reste à savoir…

    1. Hi Jeff, I like the photo also. There is something about abandoned cars and homes that leaves the viewer questioning — Why did they leave? What were they like? As a kid I explored many abandoned houses. I love your blog, especially your poem “Deferred”. This really spoke to me about our society. ~ Dennis
