Dear Dennis, Thanks for this. A very encouraging view that I know I ought to put into practice though it requires much strength of character and sense of purpose. I really like this one. I’ve never been able to answer the (I think incredibly stupid) interview question, “where do you see yourself in (5 or 10) years?” due to my own belief system being similar to Taoism. Things just change so fast for me, I really can’t see specifics that far out. I still don’t know what I want to be when I grow up.
I’m just now finding out who and what I really am: a helper and a fighter at the core. That’s an odd combination but finding out what I am AND ACTING OUT OF LOVE makes what I want irrelevant. Goals I’m driven to fight for are the ones that keep me on the right path.
I still just go with the flow but my actions are no longer driven by what is expected of me. I’m no longer drifting aimlessly, unsure of where I’m going. Now driven by the uniting force of love, the absolute contradictions in my soul that never made sense have become complementary. I know I’m on the right path now. I just don’t know where it leads.
This poem has captured the very essence of a huge change in me that most can’t understand and expressed it elegantly in just a few words. Thank you.

I certainly understand not wanting to restrict yourself to names. I don’t fit neatly into any category, but some are closer than others. In the end, names are just shorthand used to facilitate communication. For me, it’s easiest to pick something closest and say “it’s like that.” But it is never exactly “that” and “that” tends to change over time. This is often confusing, but I think you probably get it.
Very recently, I posted on FB “I think I figured out why I’m here” buried in comments. It was something someone said while riding in a car with two strangers on our way to honor a life tragically lost. He created a community and his passing brought us all closer than ever.

That shift in thinking is pretty freeing. I know in the last several weeks I’ve been trying to go through my own transformation and working to change certain behaviors all for the sake of helping leave this world just a lil’ better than how I found it, or at least I hope I do. Great post! :)

I agree with you completely. When our own wants are taken out of the equation decisions are definitely made much easier. The result is general contentment with our own lot and more energy and time to help others. You are an example to us all.

Thank you Clare, as a massage therapist you are certainly in a helping profession. Many massage therapists have eased my pain and aided my mobility over the years. For this I am very thankful.

I am so sorry but I think you have me confused with someone else; I am not a massage therapist. I would not be able to be one as I have rheumatoid arthritis. They are extremely valuable professionals I agree.
