In the sky she dances

lighter than air

not a dream

or a vision

something more rare

She’s a piece of my soul

from long, long ago

before memory

confused me —

a place I must go.

I’m particularly struck by, “before memory confused me”–I dare say memory is the bane of my soul.

  I try to life my life in the moment, but I get distracted down memory lane. Even the good memories remind me of what I don’t have now.
