LOVE

.

in seas of swirling wheat,
aloud with a chorus of crickets,
i waited and listened…

in radiant prairie sun,
my skin tanned in tones of copper,
i stood in awe…

exiting a copse of sumacs,
a raven flapped — his raspy squawk
beckoned me to follow…

to the emerald peace of the ever-changing forest
where spirits played and danced
i came for you…

within the intimacy of our warm embrace
you conferred, upon my lips, consecration with the sweetest kiss —
i became LOVE
