The Truth?

I can’t handle the truth.
Every television network has its own truth.
Every newspaper has its own truth.
Every magazine has its own truth.
Every book has its own truth.
Don’t get me started on social media.

My brother once told me
the truth shouldn’t get in the way
of a good story.
This was after I questioned
the truth of his previous story.
I was understandably confused.

What choice do we have?
Do we blindly follow our chosen media?
Do we believe what others tell us?
Ask someone about religion.
You will get as many answers
as there are religions.

The truth is,
we must examine the sources
and be true to ourselves.
It’s all we have.
For every person, their truth is
what they see, and what they believe.
